I haven't seen it, not much detail. Could be a good purchase.

It always amazes me when someone puts up an add for something decent & can't be bothered to post a pic or 2.

Always boggles the mind. I used to think that salesmen were useless to society, but eventually realized that a GOOD salesperson expedites things and actually helps you buy the thing you want, and helps both parties clean up their act, and would, for example, make sure a boat like that "Chappelli" schooner is photogenic enough to attract attention, thereby earning his or her (X)%. The buyer can''t crack the whip, the seller is clueless--what the situation needs is, amazingly enough, a middle-man.

And even the texted photos will most likely be from fifty feet away of the boat at a dock. And every scrap of info. will have to be pried out of the seller. "How many hours on the engine?" "Not that many, it's pretty new." etc.

You got to love the dirty frying pan on the stove and the pictures of the schooner. I wonder how careful the owner was taken care of the boat when I see it's a mess and photographed with all the mess showing

But... if it's in good shape, it's a steal.

Catboats are good on the Hudson where there's hardly any wind since most of them can move in a zephyr. Though I think as far down as Chelsea it tends to be a bit breezier

How hard is it to request texted photos if you're truly in the market for a large catboat? Too many people are just tire kickers looking for cheap entertainment.

But as the seller would you want all those lookey loos to have your cell phone number? Seems much better to just include a few pics in the ad…

As somebody who looked at too many horrible wooden boats way back when, it would have saved me a lot of time and travel if people had posted a few pics. I especially like the ones where you have to call them for the asking price, which often means a really awkward twenty second conversation.

Good point Steven. I don't text so wouldn't even get any photos if requested. Meanwhlle, Craigslist does have an anonymous way to communicate between sellers and interested parties.

I am also puzzled by the lack of pictures, but I suspect that the seller is not experienced in posting pics.
I hope the boat finds a good home.
