    Default Oak Tabletop Which Glue?

I am building a new smaller tabletop for the main cabin. I have some left over oak T&G flooring. I will be edge gluing the pieces together to make the top. (There will be two cross pieces under the tabletop as well.) So what glue to use: Titebond or epoxy?

I would use the Titebond and install the braces with screws only. No glue.

The screws will allow the top to come and go with changes in moisture content.

Some would go to the trouble of ovaling the screw holes in the braces, but I have never done it,or had any problems.

I’d use TB3 also, whether flooring’s red (likely) or white oak (less likely). Also no glue on braces but maybe oversize holes for screws and if you want to, I’d counterbore those holes a bit then add a washer under pan head screw heads so top can easily move with humidity changes. That way everything’s snug & no screw heads to catch on underneath.

Countersunk flatheads work similarly but aren’t as easily tightened ‘just enough’ ‘cause of the bevel underneath leaving a wider gap somewhere it’s gonna work against you.

Ron is no doubt correct, but as a belt-and-suspenders obsessive fussbudget I'm among the "some" who would take the time to account for plenty of wood movement. Non-marine options include:

An oversized circular washer (or short graduated stack of washers) would be easier to find in stainless and would do just as well.
