You may have your thread title wrong. Fishwives are potty mouths.

There won't be any fish to sell until she has baited that long line (May be a trot line to yous yanks) and her husband or father returns with the catch.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Find me one and we nay find out. Mongers, costermongers, fishmongers and so on were self-employed hawkers selling from a barrow.

a coarse-mannered woman who is prone to shouting.
A euphemism for swears a lot.
    From Wiki
Often the wives and daughters of fishermen, fishwives were notoriously loud and foul-mouthed, as noted in the expression, To swear like a fishwife.
The OED is perhaps too refained a source in this occasion.

My ancient and weighty Websters alludes to a characteristic fishwive's loud abusive language.

The basket of whelks posed next to her tells us what she is about to do next - bait the long line.

Rumour has it that the 'she sells sea-shells' rhyme was about Mary Anning who sold fossils, including Ammonites, in the Lyme Regis area in the early 19thg Century. Knew her stuff too.

(PS Ammonites are not a religious sect!)

Quite likely, in fact more than rumour methinks.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Francis Meadow Sutcliffe, who certainly lived in Whitby and who certainly took photographs of the town’s fisherfolk, took this picture around 1890, but there are things that bother me about it.

She is almost wearing the dress of a fisher lass, but for the polite white apron. The lasses who followed the herring fleet wore such skirts and blouses but topped them with oilskin aprons that went right round and which started at the chin, along with, always, a scarf round the hair, which is what you would wear if you were going to spend the whole day gutting herring. But then she’s not gutting, she’s baiting, which can be just as messy.

I’m a bit puzzled. But she’s a very pretty girl.

She got gussied up for the photo op.

I'll be buying what she's selling, myself!

American Museum of Natural History has some impressive bronzes of African natives. One female bust had a highly polished bust, courtesy of thousands of high schoolers on school trips. She wasn't on display last time I was there.

A lot of his photos were staged, and she modelled for him more than once. Moreover, she has not started baiting that line. Both the swill of line and the basket of bait would come together at her home, she could not have carried them both at the same time.
Looking through Sutcliffe's catalogue, those white aprons are ubiquitous.

We watched a show called “Secret Scotland” in which Susan Calman, a comedian, drove a Mini to little known spots. At one place was a beach at the bottom of a cliff. From this beach, the fishermen would launch each morning. In the afternoon, the women went down, loaded baskets with 50+ pounds of fish and carry them up the 180 steps in the cliff side. 180 steps carrying 50+ pounds. The mind boggles.

At one end of the property I lived on as a kid was a deep valley in what was called the Wheelbarrow paddock. So named because decades before I was there, a little old woman lived in a cottage at the bottom of the valley, and once a month she would push her wheelbarrow up to the road and then the four miles to town (Hill End) to do her shopping. And then wheel it home again. Some of the old timers still remembered her. I found some lovely old bottles at the site of her cottage, and also the dried remains of a couple of pairs of the little hob nailed boots she used to wear. JayInOz
