    Default shellback sail

I've taken my shellback out a few times and really enjoyed it. Today was on a larger hydro electric lake and it was very windy. The shellback sails really nicely, My experience is largely with smaller boats, FJ, mutineer, Crown 18 George Holmes Eel style canoe yawl, Danica 16 etc. I think the Shellback stacks up well for fun and ease of use.

the Polytarp sail it came with works well but it is the original sail that came with the boat and it is probably 10 years old, It hasn't been used much and is in decent condition but it's old.

i'd like to get a proper dacron sail with a reef point.
    I'm n Vancouver BC Canada
I got a quote for a white 3.8 oz one from one loft for $700 Can plus 12% tax I guess ($784)
So around $660 US all in

-Is this average cost for this sort of small sail(56 Sq ft)?

-Is there other lofts/sailmakers people can recommend?

I can sew rudimentally (Have a Pfaf 130 but it needs timing) and my friend does have a sailrite machine I could borrow. The shellback kit is $200US shipped. However I don't have lots of space.

-Anyone have a used one in okay condition?

    Try Duckworks' sailmaker-
    https://duckworks.com/custom-sail/

And there some online sellers of used sails . . . .

Do you have air bags for your boat? Because Shellbacks need them. Cheap opti bags can be found at Intensity sails.

The Sailrite kit is a bargain and it's pretty easy to do.
I stitched mine up on two 8 foot tables set up in my family room.
Don't need a ton of space.
