    Default etching primer for bronze

Anyone have any firsthand experience with etching primer for bronze (Intending to paint with Epifanes one part enamel after)? Petit 6455/044 looks like it will work but wondering if anyone has any other (or confirming) experience?

Why the etch? Why not simply sand? You remove dirt & what surface oxidation there may be as well as roughening the surface. Bronze doesn’t oxidize quickly, unlike aluminum.

If that’s not convincing enough, give the tech support folks at Pettit a call, see what they can tell you about prepping bronze for priming with their stuff? 6455/044 appears to be an etching primer for many metals including copper alloys like bronze.
