How about some pictures (and stories) of where we live? Neighborhood, your yard, home, town, living space, ETC.?

I live on a lake in NE Ohio - part of a State Park, chain of lakes - the Tuscarawas river flows through the lake channel I live on - there is a State Wildlife Area just on the other side of the narrow lake channel, with large active beaver lodge on the ne side of an island (visible from my sunroom and living room!)

When the local real estate people list a house they inevitably take drone shots nowdays , so I've started a library.
This isn't our place , we're just out of shot. But we do share a boundary peg and we can use that little creek off to the right.
Between the far point (cape Brett )and here is called the Bay of Islands and we're on the Kerikeri inlet. Terrific cruising, if anything the area is a bit small and we get lazy, we can be at an island anchorage about 15 or 20 minutes from the marina.
    Screenshot_2021-04-11-23-01-33.jpg
The little island joined to the mainland by causeway (centre shot)is a bird sanctuary with some cabins and camping sites and those mangrove wetlands are protected. We have Kiwi living in and around the bush around the wetlands including right below our house and on our place as well.
Ever changing with the tides too (of course), which makes it interesting.

My place is marked with a yellow pushpin icon. The landscape isn't really that bleak - the photo was taken early in the spring before the leaves came out on the deciduous trees. All the bland beige areas are actually covered in birch, alder and some maple trees.

I’ve got to be a heretic and state that Mt Hood is far more picturesque than Mt Rainier.

It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

This is about fifteen minutes ago. That's Olive the cat coming out in the street to see.

The Z3 is still derelict. Meanwhile I'm now working on this end of the porch overhaul, having put in new railing, I'm making an end panel for the deck and steps.
The quarter round of ash sitting on the tool stand in the driveway is the second of a pair of figures to be bookends. Big bookends. I acquired the half round at least a decade ago, and split it and carved an unfinished figure of a man squatting. The next one will be a woman sitting with raised knees. If I ever get to finish the walnut chair and everything else on the to do list first. ...

Our 100 year old house on a quiet street maybe two miles from the University and state capitol building. Still waiting for weather warm enough for anything to start growing and greening up.

    Street view:

And this is our house up north, co-owned with my brothers. Lake frontage in both front and back. Squatch at lower right.

Well I won't put my house on here, as I don't like advertising where I live, so that I could mention say being at regatta week .. (31st July - 6th August 2021)
And for that here's a google view of the club house, if it comes out it's under the I in Inn. then you can zoom in ..

I'm away from home still so looking forward to going back. This is another real estate drone photo of the one road in to our peninsular. A fun drive in itself.

About 7 miles from my house, we sail past this site regularly
The Annual Church Service at St Benets Abbey. The only monastery not destroyed by Henry VIII. Instead he sold it to the Bishop of Norwich, who Knocked it down to provide materials for the extra buildings at Norwich Cathedral, locals helped themselves to bits too.
The cross is on the site of the altar..
    788998.jpg
Technically the Abbey was never closed, so there is still an annual service held at the site of the Altar.
The Bishop of Norwich AKA the Abbot of St Benets travels to the service in a Norfolk Wherry.

Only the remains of the gate house which was converted into a windmill survive, though less than 150 years ago some buildings along the waters edge were still in use as a pub..
