    Default Oar lock spacing

I am planning on making some removable outriggers for rowing my canoe. I will start mocking things up to make my final decisions on dimensions but was wondering if any one had some good rules of thumb or references as a starting point for the width between oarlocks/oar length.

Sliding seat single sculls run 60 inches with 9'6" oars. If you say go 4' you can probably do 8' oars.

Here's a good place to start

Shaw and Tenney used to have a concise formula for oarlock width and oar length but I don't see it on their site anymore.

Perhaps another forumite knows where it is?
