Default The Real Deal Redneck Accessory:

A friend sent me a pic of a heavy duty, manually-operated can crusher as proof of redneckery.

IMO, REAL rednecks have one of these:

    Rattling the teacups.

These... A real redneck don't need no stinkin' machine to deal with empties!

Actually, a real redneck is into beer can caliber cannons & saves his empties to fill with concrete for the next weekend's match.

I want one for my oil filters
    (about 6-8 a month)
Maybe I could make it fire them off like pile driver?
See what the EPA thinks of that, it would be about like burning Bunker C and would probably eat filters as quickly as we could throw them at it.
Maybe a breech loader like a "bag gun"

I feel that device should fire the crushed can into a barrel 30 to 50 feet away in order to qualify as a proper redneck device.

    Yes! with plenty of smoke.
Which... * when we were young we made a black powder cannon from DOM 3/4" wall tubing that shot 1 qt oil cans filled with concrete. The main trouble was they went about a half mile... Keyholing all the way

Larchmont Yacht Club has a nice brass cannon for morning and evening gun. Its bore is slightly larger than the outside diameter of a beer can. An M-80 provides impressive propulsion of a full can of beer.

My cannon remark above was based on a friend in Island Pond VT who is in a group of competitive cannon folks. They use black powder & beer/soda cans filled with concrete at 100 & 500 yard targets. The good ones will group 5 shots at about 1 ft. on the 100 yard. Impressive smoke!

An oil can filled with concrete fired a half mile? Dang, you can do some damage with something like that!!! Could I suggest a target?

Appears the rate of crushing could use some improvement. How's'about a gatling sort'a thing?

    Amateurs.

Here's a real can line - filling/sealing at about 12,000/hour. The rotary fillers/cappers are pretty sophisticated. They've been developing this stuff for a good long time now. I've worked on designing machinery for several, depalletizers and conveyor systems, but it was a long time ago.

This one's in India and runs pretty slowly by US standards, but it's easier to see what's going on.

I was thinking kids might get more of a kick out of it if it were more of a cannon type. Load, push the lever to compress and can and the spring, clear the barrel, and fire.
