    I wasn't aware that penes were rare in Ancient Rome. Perhaps that helps explain the fall of their Empire.

    I watched a prog on the ship excavation. Nothing left in the sand but brown stains from the roitted wood, but with modern photogrammetry they are reconstructing a virtual ship.
    It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.
