Default I Don't Know Whether To Laugh Or Cry Or Throw Up.

    Saw this in Facebook marketplace.

They've got White Trash Edition and Deplorable Edition, too.

You're supposed to mount this badge on your fender, right underneath the 'Explorer XLT', or whatever.

It's just like the hats, it's a badge of honor and a stick in the eye all rolled into one. What percentage of vehicles sporting one of those do you think will get keyed?

Could be read as satire of course, and those who buy them are the ones that don't get it.

    This isn't just a hat. It's a symbol.

I remember the first time that I noticed the power of symbols.

The yellow ribbons around trees during the Iran Hostage Crisis.

The second moment that I remember of the power of symbols was circa 1987, a bumper sticker, "It isn't a choice, it's a child", with a silhouette of a school-age child. It was the first moment that I really thought about the abortion rights situation, and I thought, wow, this is effed up.

What is weird, though, is that at the very same intersection in Seattle, stopped at the same traffic light, I considered that Suburu was targeting lesbians with their commercials.

There's an alarming number of things lately that could be hilarious parody - or not. Sort of like the picture of Trump on the eagle with missiles and a Happy Meal box. I think I'll go with 'laugh'. Why not?

Indeed. Even when they were actually trying to.

I loved working on this show. Had to be one of the most fun road shows I ever did.

Y'know, the more I think about those doodads, the funnier they are, on the right vehicle. An Escalade or a Tahoe or something similarly luxurious and bloated, or better yet, a fancy Audi (which for some reason around here often seem to be driven by total *ssholes). The problem is that nobody could tell if you were being ironic or not, or just a total schmuck. Maybe if I were black . . . Nah. Not even then.
