  • (NOT) spam (really...)

Hard to ignore the increasing appearance of spam here & in other sub-forums.

But I submit that it's better simply to just ignore it when you see it; it's not hard to recognize.

Use the little triangle at bottom left to report it for what it is, unless it's been there for a few hours.

Chances then are really good it's already been reported to the Admins for deletion.

With every click to view the culprits are garnering feedback that spurs them on to ever-increasing intrusions. Same with every reply posted.

    They're looking for attention.

    Don't give it to them.

I hadn't noticed the little triangle before. Wondered how you reported stuff.

FBM. Who's got the keys they want to hand off?

It's about time to start making it a bit more difficult to just jump in and start posting whatever you please.

Peerie Maa's signature line has some resonance with that sentiment Todd.

I can certainly understand the idea that we don't want to scare off lurkers and other folks who are genuinely interested in wooden boats, whether or not they choose to post anything themselves, but there is a lot of good information that gets posted here. I have no problem with making sure that what new members can post actually has something to do with boats. If that means that your first five posts will be monitored to ensure that they are about boats, and not California real estate, so be it. This is a really good forum, and unlike most, there is nearly constantly something going on. Maintaining that may take a bit more effort that most do.

                  Agree 100%.

Spam's usually blatant, obvious, unwarranted intrusion, deserving of being ignored & deleted quickly.
