In addition to marine plywood meeting BS1088 standards, it should also have Lloyd's Type Approval (especially since BS1088 is supposedly scheduled for de-sanctification by the British Standard Institute). Lloyd's Type Approval is a pretty good indication of quality. You can read about Lloyd's Type Approval at the Lloyd's web site at http://www.lr.org/services/type-approval
Lloyds appears to have put their type approval database online at http://www.cdlive.lr.org/information/510tapub/
so you can search for LLoyd's type-approved products. For instance, entering 'plywood' into the product search page gives me the following list of type-approved plywood manufacturers. Each entry represents one particular product. Clicking on the link generates a PDF file containing the certificate itself, which tends to have all sorts of useful information in it -- standards compliance, recommended usages, in some instances, detailed measurements WRT stiffness and strength of panels.
