    David -

You have shown you lack wonder and joy in your life. This has gone on way too long. How do we help repair you?

Perhaps it is time to have a EBS near you in Portland. We will see how many bubbles are in your pitcher and perhaps add some more.

Let us/me know when you are ready.
Without friends none of this is possible.

        Ted, get an effing clue.
        Yeah, good luck with that....

Thanks for your concern. But it is misplaced. You see... it IS possible to be joyful AND serious at the same time. And that is certainly what I stive for. As Emma Goldman said --

When I chide you about being half a bubble off... it's not an attempt to quash your sense of humor. I'm sure you're a fine fellow, but once again you have misapprehended. It's a hint that you seem to have a shaky grasp of what works and what doesn't in THIS sort of venue, and how what you're tossing over the transom will be perceived. Have you not seen enough similar response from a range of folks to at least grok that your 'humor' mostly ain't working? That doesn't mean lose the humor. It doesn't mean just shrug it off and say, 'They just don't GET me.' It means figure out a way to get it across. It's a skill, and not an easy one. Perhaps another item for your visionin board? Good luck!

Maybe projecting on my part but I thought maybe Ted was being sarcastic?(am I correct, Ted?) I think I could see the mischief in his eye. Cheers/ JC

That's the problem I mentioned. Unless you are quite explicit in your message... some will see it as humor, some will see it as snark, some will take it as straight/serious, and some will be unsure. This sort of medium promotes ambiguity, and humor/sarcasm/subtlety is a bit tricky to accomplish.

But where is the appropriate emoji?

Your comments are excellent David, and exactly on point.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

So, Paul... your recommend the 'They just don't GET me' route. I'm skeptical. It doesn't seem to be working for Ted. But good luck.

I guess you have no interest in a Portland EBS.

if there were going to be a portland ebs
                            where should it be held
certainly not in portland itself, right?

Prolly not right in downtown. Too staid. But, mere blocks away, there are some of the coolest brewpubs. We can walk over afterward and I can show you where the feds were hustling protestors into unmarked vans...

                                there it is..

comparing (if even by implication) the disclosing of congratulatory flowers (that she decidedly deserved) and a special wardrobe for a one off occasion to the hiding of at this point millions of dollars in cash & gifts over decades that relate too closely to cases sat on/decisions made confirms someone indeed has no clue.
