I wish Canada would give up smoking!

Just came back from outside, the smoke from the Canadian forest fires is thick in the air.

It gave me a headache. I understand from this morning’s news broadcast it is much worse north of here! Egads!

It reminds me of the smog in Washington DC from when I was a kid in the early 70’s.

Can't tell you if it's "much worse" or not but I can tell you it's really annoying.
And that I'm not going out of the house more than I have to.
Latest update says we are in bad air alert until Thursday midnight.

They called off kiddo's end-of-year Field Day after only two events.

No 3-legged race! No tug-o-war! Canada must PAY!

It's probably a bit diluted by the time it gets to you. This morning at 10am I stood outside and stared at the sun without blinking. It looked more like a peach harvest moon than the sun! My camera wouldn't register enough light to show in the picture. The air has my eyes watering and when I come back in the house you would think that I'd been sitting beside a campfire all day.. Wife has COPD so she isn't going out much at all. I'm about 100 miles from the nearest fire so I can't imagine what it's like for the poor buggers living closer!

Thoughts and prayers for you guys. Almost every year we get smoked in from wild fires in WA and BC. Very unpleasant for months on end.

LGA shut down because of the smoke! wtf? if they can operate at night or in fog, why not smoke?

Queried friend in Danbury about this. Been 'advisory' here for sensitives last three days, she sent me this in answer to what she's seeing:

Particulates close to 200 there, just shy of 100 where I am.

Wonder what it's like in Beijing on a 'bad' day....

I think you should consider months instead of days or weeks. The multiple fires in CA are generally uncontrolled and likely to burn until the snow falls. That happened to us in ID a few years ago. Four terrible months.

My flight made it out just in time this AM. Flew to Toronto, which is pretty smokey. Now off to Vancouver.

New York is supposed to get even heavier smoke tomorrow, after an easing this evening.
