Welp, another American institution bites the dust, and once again Saudi Arabia uber alles. Rich Eisen put it succinctly: " It stinks". Political commentator Steve Schmidt thinks it's the Trump golf tour now:

In the PGA lawsuit against the LIV is mentioned Saudi atrocities. Now, I guess not so much. " For the love of money", sang the Ojays.

Golf as a participatory sport has been on the decline for decades. I'm guessing the PGA is desperate for viewers and lush TV contracts.

Golfing takes too long and families want to do more with family members in ways they can all participate enjoyably. My dad, a former Ohio State Amateur champion in the thirties, used to make me walk the course with him when he played on many weekends. BORING!!! At least for me. My younger brother became a fanatic however and has taken golf trips with his buddies all around the world.

It is disgusting. The PGA touts ethics and then does a 180 to get in bed with the Saudis. They were bought. It's no more complicated than that.

now the liv guys look like geniuses, the competitive golf loyalists look like mooks.

The PGA can bite me and all those spoiled millionaire golfers itching to be billionaires can bite me as well.

It won't be long before baseball, football and basketball players uniforms are covered in sponsor logos like Nascar and FI cars.

Used to be I could turn on a Mariners game on the telly. Now, you have to pay cable or a streaming service. The UW Husky football opener will be streamed for a price. I suspect that within a couple of years the NFL will be 100% pay per stream.

The Saudi's (Liv, for profit) have bought the PGA (Non-profit) despite player protests. So where do they go now after supporting the PGA they get shafted.
