  • If I were advising democrats:

I would make my top priorities to remind voters that Trump nominated, and republicans confirmed, the justices that overturned Roe and, likely, some other things the public won't like.

I would remind voters that it is Republicans who oppose ANY legislation aimed at lessening gun violence.

I'd remind them the promised 2019 tax cut for the middle class never came.

I'd remind them the better system to replace the ACA never came.

    And that sort of thing.
"Banning books in spite of the 1st amendment, but refusing to regulate guns in spite of "well regulated militia' being in the 2nd amendment makes no sense. Can't think of anyone ever shot by a book

    maybe dems need simpler reminders
like, donate money to your candidates
or, just show up and vote dammit
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

I'd remind them that Republicans as a party have more past, and sitting criminal indictments in the last 50 years, than the Democrats have had in the past 247 years.

Nothing wrong with painting the R's accurately and repeatedly.

And Pless is right as to more basic steps.

AND... volunteering at any level is a huge help. The more volunteer energy, the better things tend to turn out. A local race. A ballot measure. A national issue. A particular party. It matters not... just get busy. It all helps.

I’d tell em to hire as many pop singers, B actors and Tiktok/Youtube influencers as possible to sell their brand because all that other stuff requires more than a 90 second attention span. Stick with 15 second infotainment clips.

My goal is things simple, easy to understand, and often forgotten, or perhaps not realized.

Perhaps, if the Democrats made some substantive promises to minorities, they could get elected. But the Democrats would rather lose than give minorities and the poor anything.

But the biggest problem is, Democrats haven't done anything to help the average person since the ACA and even that was a gimme to the insurance giants.

John, you have good thoughts but even if the messaging was perfect, these people don't pay attention. There has been too much noise over the past 40 years, no real substance from either side, more and more people are turning apathetic . . . including me.
                  Indeed.

And that, too, is part of the strategy. Chaos favors the sociopaths. Noise favors the nihilists. Lies and confusion breed frustration, and eventually apathy. Bickering blunts the energy for resistance. They know they can't win on the issues, or with a big turnout of well-educated voters. So they blunt public participation in a variety of ways. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, and disinformation campaigns designed to dishearten.

Which is one of the reasons for volunteering. Not only does it serve the public interest... it also helps us as individuals fend off all of that deliberate nonsense. A community of civic-minded folks cooperating on a project is heartening. Sometimes even invigorating.

Just don't vote for a f'n Ralph Nader (metaphor...)
or you will have republican's in control and a war or two then an assault on democracy itself, with the total control of the supreme court

Doesn't one have to win before one can actually give anything to anyone?

That's why I'd put my messaging on billboards and such.

Speaks to the value of a mature well informed counter position from a smart opposition.
The democratic process doesn't work when one side is just a bunch of whacko's.
It's all fun and games until Darth Vader comes.
