Was pretty good here last night, very John Masefield……………..

"The moon was a silver galleon tossed upon cloudy seas"………except is was full of course.

        Alfred Noyes--"The Highwayman"

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
        And the highwayman came riding--
        --riding--riding--
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

A great poem for teaching descriptive writing through metaphor to 8th graders.

            Probably "Sea Fever"?

I must go down to the sea again,
            To the lonely sea and the sky;
And all I ask is a tall ship
And a star to steer her by...

(That's by memory--not sure of the line breaks/punctuation)

Your epic strawberry moon kept waking me up last night. We were at anchor and I would just get to sleep and the boat would turn and a very bright shaft of light would come through the port light straight at my face. No matter where the moon was in its path, the boat would turn to find it. Just call me Moonbeam McBoatface.

Careful; nicknames tend to “stick “!
There's a lot of things they didn't tell me when I signed on with this outfit....

I would definitely put that in the category of "First World Problems".

I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

Yeah, what we shoulda been doing was a midnight moonlight row around the harbor instead of trying to sleep.

Paid our dues on the way home though this morning. Big ebb tide and an opposing north wind really stacks up the seas. And the course of course is in the trough. Had to quarter the seas almost to Edmonds and then turn downwind near the eastern shore. Snoose doesn’t have a problem with it as long as her occupants keep the dishes and books off the cabin sole. I think She spent the crossing holding pillows against the dish racks.
