Re: Utah schools ban the bible
A lot of the Bible is ignored, or not read, by Christians who refer to it as the 'good' book."Banning books in spite of the 1st amendment, but refusing to regulate guns in spite of "well regulated militia' being in the 2nd amendment makes no sense. Can't think of anyone ever shot by a book

Further down in the article it points out that the students in a Kansas school requested removal of the Bible last year. May be hope yet?Comment

No biblical scholar I, but doesn't that first book in the bible have a whole lot of "begetting".
Seems to me they were "begetting" their brains out back in the day, so there's that to rattle the faithful book banners."Unrepentant Reprobate"

Re: Utah schools ban the bible
What a bunch of foolery.
A show of hands, please. How many here ever once looked at a Bible in their school libraries during their public school years? I'm a gung-ho Christian and never did. School was for learning to live in the secular world.
The Bible was for studying at church and at home.
This is the state of Utah where they have very little use for the Bible.
I'll bet that all the Republicans who passed that law are Mormons.
Chances are that the Book of Mormon has some juicy parts in it also, but they would have no
problem with that.
It's all just a stunt. Republicans trying to out-crazy each other in their desire to please the radical base.I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

Re: Utah schools ban the bible
It's been a while but I remember always checking the night stand in motel rooms in Utah to see if they provided the Bible, or the Book Of Mormon, or both. As I recall, it was an even distribution.Do not speak of "our institutions" unless you make them yours by acting on their behalf.

I am an Episcopalian. I have also been a choir member for over 20 years. I also firmly believe in the separation of church and state. Leave your bible home. Church, Sunday school, Temple, Mosque and your home is the place for it.Comment
