According to the news, they have hundreds of train crashes a year in India. Ummm... it's on a track, right? Maybe just one at a time would be a good idea.

Two tracks, one train de-railed and was hit by one coming the other way.

Poor maintenance, according to the reports that I have seen. If you don’t look after the permanent way, you get derailments.

And there are people who think that India will surpass China in something other than numbers of babies.

Failure to communicate. One derailed, was hit by second, then third one crashed in.

Poor signalling system, in that case. I thought the goods train was stationary when the first fast passenger train struck it?

There have been important advances in signalling in Europe, China and Japan in recent years due to higher running speeds. India does not seem to have followed these.
