Yeah. And the intellectual, philosophic, and moral tradition that built it all; and the sweat, stress, and long hours it takes every Fing day to protect it from perpetual attack, from every quarter, while trying to make it work.

Part -- a big part! -- of the problem is our lawyer problem.

The USA is in #1 position with 1 lawyer per 248 people.

        Italy is a close #2 at 1 per 260

        Germany, #3 at 1 per 516

        #4 is Romania, at 1 per 885

        #5 is Ukraine, at 1 per 911

        #6 is India with 1 per 951

        #7 is France with 1 per 1,221

        #8 is Latvia with 1 per 1,500

Starting to get a sense of the shape of the curve?

Highly paid professionals, like lawyers, will find ways to gin up work. There's reasons we are the most litigious country in the world.

We have c. 1.3 million lawyers here in the USA.

Lists lead to manifestos which lead to dictates which lead to other bad things, so let's start off without making lists for a beginning point.

I tried- in the town of Orange, for about an hour. Approached a front door, a feller opened it and said Is that religious stuff you got there? I said no. He said F###off! and slammed the door. Ten seconds later he opened the door and I hadn't moved. He said Sorry- shouldn't have done that. But f### off anyway. That was enough salesman for me for this lifetime. JayInOz

The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Teaching is a moral undertaking. I would quickly stop showing up for work if my paychecks suddenly stopped coming.

Too many lawyers is a bit like too many guns, someone is always looking for an excuse to use them.
