There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

We have about as many honest politicians as we ever did in most times, although certainly not enough. Beware good old days syndrome.

did y'all ever see the movie 'jurassic park'?
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Sweet Jesus, you're suffering from a short memory on some of that stuff!
The only reason you needed to get at the spark plugs in the first place was because of the crappy carburetor and points ignition.
Our old V6 Camry was over 370,000km on the original plugs - and still going when the boy got rid of it. They came out at 150K when I had the dealer do the cambelt (bring back chains!), he said they were fine and stuck them back in.
So much better than cocking around with balky cold weather starting, points, plugs, jets, diaphragms, and leaky float bowls on a semi regular basis.
All pretty moot, now that EVs are mainstream .

How mainstream EVs might become is yet to be seen. A third of people polled said they would never buy one, I being a member of that group.

I am currently on the hunt for a '48 Ford pickup, for all the reasons listed above. Lovely things they are.

God save us. I've worked on all these things for many, many hours, and aside from 'fuel pumps not in the tank', I thank whatever gods there may be (or at least the folks who design cars) that they're all long gone. You might as well wish to bring back city air you can see, smell and taste (to which some of the things on the list contributed mightily), or tetraethyl lead. I do wish modern cars were easier to work on, but I do NOT want a revival of cars that required working on all the time, spewed enormous amounts of air pollution, had an excellent chance of killing you in an accident, and were worn out at 100,000 miles.

Not sure that's true. It was Republicans who asked tough questions in the Watergate hearings and ended up telling Nixon he had to resign.

What we need to bring back is the time when ALL 'news' sources reported facts as best they could. I'd like to have honesty from politicians and news.

Did taking lead out of gas contribute to this, also? My '66 Dodge came into my possession as unleaded gas was coming in. I worried about that, but it thrived on unleaded. I drove it for 13 years, from 1986 when I bought it until 1999, when the AC stopped working. No change of spark plugs.
