  • Songs that describe/ celebrate gun violence, murder etc

It seems to me there's a bunch of them.

"Walking down the road with a pistol in your hand, Johnny you're too bad, too bad..."

"it's twenty-one men that I've put bullets through, and Sheriff Pat Garret's gonna make 22..."

"You should've told me you was married baby, so she pulled out a 45 and let me have it right smack between the eyes... That's the way the girls are in Texas, That's the way the girls are in Texas... She was guilty and I was dead, what do you think that old judge said? Awww that's just the way the girls are down here in Texas - Case dismissed!"

Listen to some gangsta rap. Plenty of examples. Forced to endure that garbage when I attempted to skate in a local roller rink.

I don't think songs, tv shows, etc. influence people to do bad things.

That said, it would be an interesting tactic to suggest banning such things as they may influence people to shoot people. That argument would be no less valid than the ones the right makes about youngsters being taught about stuff that might turn them gay.
"Banning books in spite of the 1st amendment, but refusing to regulate guns in spite of "well regulated militia' being in the 2nd amendment makes no sense. Can't think of anyone ever shot by a book

This is the song that got me thinking about this: Dylan, "Stuck Inside of Mobile with The Memphis Blues Again". No harm done, just shooting at a fire though.
"Grandpa died last week, and now he's buried in the rocks and everybody still talks about how badly they were shocked, but me I expected it to happen, I knew he'd lost control when he built a fire on main street and shot it full of holes..."

Apparently, it sells. It's interesting to note this is true, it seems, on tv shows up to a point. NCIS Los Angelus has ended. The only NCIS that seems it may go on forever, is the original. While the LA version had shootouts in virtually all of their episodes, gun fire was rather rare in the original NCIS series.

Years ago westerns were a big thing, and guns were a big part of westerns. They had magical six guns that never ran out of bullets.

Seems that violence brings a substantial audience. And sells a lot of music. I don't know why that is.

Don't Take Your Guns To Town by Johnny Cash

                              Filled with rage then
Billy Joe reached for his gun to draw
But the stranger drew his gun and fired
                              Before he even saw
As Billy Joe fell to the floor
