What meal did your family serve when you were a child, that you absolutely hated?

I posted this as a meme on meme tread and it has so many answers they’ve taken over. I think we can have a thread dedicated to this topic.

I hated peas soup as a young kid. I was maybe 3-4 year old. I had to eat what was put in front of me. I remember sucking the juice out of the peas and spitting the rest out between the stove and wall. My mother never knew.

For some reason, dumplings (as in chicken and dumplings) gagged me. They tried to force me to eat them when I was about four. They came back up promptly. Never eaten them since.

Chocolate eclairs.
I always liked raspberry filled powdered doughnuts. One night dad brought home chocolate eclairs. Mom was ecstatic! Sister was ecstatic! Dad was so proud! I was duobtful.
I took one tentative nibble and spit it out. It was gross! Rancid! Sour! Icky!
My parents thought I was being a spoiled brat. They ate theirs and finally mom picked up mine and took a big chomp.
She spit it out! Rancid! Sour! Icky! So I got a bad eclair, and ever since, I have had an aversion to chocolate eclairs.

these: green beans, cabbage, silverbeet, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower and most other cooked vegetables. im happy to eat most raw.

Finnan Haddie. Fish does not belong in milk. My mom went to school in Halifax NS. I think that’s where she developed the taste.

Oh god! Thnx Bernie! You reminded me of canned yellow wax beans, that my grandmother thought had to be on every plate. Disgusting! And they squeaked! when you bit them.... It was like eating gross slimy little mouse things! UUUUUUGHHHH!

That's mine also. To this very day. Carmelized onions in other settings... great. Not with liver. Never liver.

I was a well fed kid. I struggled through some dishes but I never developed a visceral hate for a food. I could survive a taste but if I couldn’t stomach it I didn’t eat it. My older brother stopped my folks from continuing to make a kid finish something initially reprehensible. He vomited across the table.

I learned I couldn’t eat a half box of sugar frosted flakes.

My grandmother made pickled watermelon rind. Didn’t like it.
