  • Bad Boys Orcas?

Killer whales in a group near Spain and Portugal may be teaching one another to mess with small boats. They sank their third vessel earlier this month

Al through there are a couple of theories, one is it's just plain cool to mess with sailboats. They seem to be good at it, attacking the rudder, disabling it and then it goes downhill from there. It is strange behavior for an non-domesticated animal, usually about food, territory or confusion but these seem like intelligent, coordinated attacks.
I'm glad where I live they just wear salmon hats, reminds me of some of the haircut and color I've seen on the web.

I read about this very interesting, I love that they call it a "fad" and that it may be because they had a bad experience with boats

Creatures smart enough to recognize who it is that's dumping trash in their 'hood, messing up their gardens?

And tough enough to DO something about it?

Evolution was just the beginning, maybe other species are starting to catch up now?

They are a protected species and it’s not easy to carry a high powered rifle on a yacht in European waters.

I think that to take out an adult orca you would want one of these:

I have read that the chief culprit is an adult female.

Since male orcas are Mummy’s boys who never learn to hunt and who depend on Mummy for all their (human length) adult lives, and since she has been and is teaching yacht destruction to the rest of the pod, I’d welcome a jail sentence for her.

Certainly a live/hate relationship with those critters. Around here they are a real delight to see from a distance. Although I’m not sure it would hurt my feelings if they started attacking the radio dispatched high speed whale watching boats that crowd around a pod.
