"They have a lot of stupid people that vote in their primaries. They really do. I'm not really supposed to say that but it's an obvious fact. But when stupid people vote, you know who they nominate? Other stupid people." -- James Carville on the plethora of low-quality GQP candidates in the mid-term election.

    .
I sold my collection of Woodenboat Magazine long ago. I replaced it with the Woodenboat Magazine collection on a USB flash drive sold in the WB Store. Seen on the shelf is only a small portion of my Watercraft Magazine collection. The rest is stored elsewhere.

Probably my favorite book is my copy of The Ashley Book of Knots. Around 1998 I purchased a used copy listed as "good condition" from Abe Books or some such internet seller. The price was the going rate for an unspecified edition in that condition. Imagine my surprise when what I received was a near-mint, 1944 1st Edition! The 1st edition differs from all others in that the inside front and back covers as well as the first and last pages have B&W photos of sea chests and their elaborately knotted beckets.

From Wikipedia: Clifford W. Ashley suffered a debilitating stroke the year after the book was published. He was not able to produce an erratum nor oversee a corrected edition. In 1991, corrections submitted by the International Guild of Knot Tyers were incorporated. The original list of revisions submitted to the publisher is believed to have been lost, but many had been collected from a series of articles in Knotting Matters, the Guild's quarterly publication. Additional errors have been identified since the 1991 corrections.

I've still got all my WBs since 1974 and more than 250 books. It's not healthy! :O
For the most part experience is making the same mistakes over and over again, only with greater confidence.

Gotten rid of almost all the boat books and the few remaining I never look at, but continue to tinker a bit on a couple plywood boats I still have.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

            I've got a similar sized nautical/boatbuilding library.
Also have blueprints for at least twenty boats.
Some I've built, some are still on the bucket list.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

And... the original is a far better quality printing/paper/binding
The Bonanza edition's binding will fall apart before you finish reading it

I love Bolger’s “Boats with an Open Mind”. Have re-read it several times. I love his commentary on the evolution of the boat designs.

And I have it on good authority that a Bolger Pirate Racer, Design #542, can be built from the reduced-size set of plans included in that book.

I will give my boatbuilding library, about 4' of shelf, to the Wooden Boat society.

No one wants a large collection of WB magazines I'm afraid.

The boating section of my personal library is considerably bigger that the boating section of our town library.

My collection of all things Patrick O'Brian graces the top shelf of my nautical library.
C.S.Forester is on the second shelf.
