I will always remember her emergence as an artist in her own right for several reasons, not the least been the impression I received the band Ike and Tina Turner review when I saw them perform on a sports Oval, Tasmania around 1974. While I love the music, it was obvious to me that the women in the band were there to flash boobs and thighs and there was open tension displayed on stage with Ike the boss trying to coach more out of his ‘show girls’ while clearly getting some resistance! After a few songs I walked away giving the rest of the performance a miss. It was as much performance as it was music, coming across as cheap thrills. Then with her unforgettable role and performance of that song in mad max she left an unforgettable impression and I was immediately won over and became a big fan. I had read a bit about the difficulties she had been subjected to in the Ike and Tina Turner Review and their relationship and was glad she had obviously fought for and found her own autonomy in an industry that often captures and packages artists creativity in a manner that eventually snuffs out the creative flame as was the case in my opinion with Elvis.

the Queen of Rock n Roll and a whole lot more. She'd been quite ill for years I'm glad she's free of pain at least. One of the best ever she will be missed greatly.Comment
