Re: Tattoos
By the time some kids hit the age of 18, they are so fed up with the authoritarian system that they have been part of (which you ran), they want to rebel a bit. I imagine they'd be particularly pleased to flaunt their tatts in front of you.
Maybe you could enlighten us with the educational theories as to why the want to rebel?Comment

Re: Tattoos
I get the point of tattoos, I don't get having them on your neck or face. Given that most neck and face tattoos look like you got seriously out of it with a bunch of mates in a tattoo parlour.Without freedom of speech, we wouldn't know who the idiots are.Comment

I'm happy with mine, small and somewhat inconspicuous though it is. Its a pictorial representation of my ancestral connections and my own current connections, Im pleased its there.

I don't have any ink, but my daughter has, some of her own design that do have significant meaning for her.It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Re: Tattoos
i suppose if i survived a war or shipwreck , a tat would fit.
i think todays youth do it to shock. "i survived a trip to disneyland".a cute butterfly hidden on my ankle sounds original
but it dont shock no mo,see?
maybe a bolt through yer nose or a spare shackle in yer cheek.ya that don't work anymore either
so maybe a change of gender might be mo shocking...chick grow a beard, dude grow boobs. thats working.
oh wait, i DID survive a shipwreckLast edited by wizbang 13; 05-22-2023, 06:09 AM.Comment

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Re: Tattoos
There's zero shock value in Tatts anymore.
It's a fascinating thing; we admire ink drawings on bodies but are repelled by blemishes.
We like everything designed, nature is tamed.
I think there's a root fear of death or something at the heart of it.
People get tats as an expression of their individuality. Go them. Who gives a rats?
Frikkin everyone has tats now it seems - cept me.
A friend went to get one recently and the artist urged her not to. He said non-ink bodies are getting so rare it's more expressive of individuality to not have one. It's all fun and games until Darth Vader comes.Comment
