On that subject here's a good read:
Winners Take All by Anand Giridharadas

In 2018, Giridharadas published Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World in which he argues that members of the global elite, though sometimes engaged in philanthropy, use their wealth and influence to preserve systems that concentrate wealth at the top at the expense of societal progress. Writing for The New York Times, economist Joseph Stiglitz praised the book, writing that Giridharadas "writes on two levels — seemingly tactful and subtle — but ultimately he presents a devastating portrait of a whole class, one easier to satirize than to reform."
For the most part experience is making the same mistakes over and over again, only with greater confidence.

"The 59-year-old philanthropist" describes his ex-wife much better. (I am not sure of her age.)

I think a lot of people live like he does. I certainly do. I have the means to do those things I want to do and I do them with my wife and kids.
      Life is complex.

I think I applied for a job that involved helicopter maintenance for that yacht and private jet maintenance for Bezos. Didn’t get an interview though. Figured I had nothing to lose. Part of the job requirements was the ability to live on a yacht for extended t8me periods. I was willing to give it a shot.

He does have the biggest detachable penis. And with his investments in bioengineering will live to at least 150,

At his current age can father at least 1000 children without hurting his wealth.
Without friends none of this is possible.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

A review of the well publicized working conditions in the distribution centers, the pay, the hourly quotas for packing, looked down upon if you need to go to the bathroom, the pace that Prime drivers must make deliveries at has them jogging from the truck to the front door and back to the truck before speeding off.
Modern slavery. He has less motive to take care of his workers than a slave owner did.

                I'm sure it's completely innocent.

say, have I mentioned that capitalism is exploitation?

                just wondering..

Back in the day, when running a publishing company, I wrote a book review of a biography of one of the scions of industry in Australia and the USA. There was much made in the book of his philanthropy... and even a little bit of his philandering. I pointed out that on a percentage of income earned basis, his philanthropy was at the lower end of the scale. His philandering, on the other hand, was pretty spectacular and I knew no-one who could compete there.

edited to add - the target readership could certainly afford to be doing a bit of philanthropy... the subs were $1,860 a year, four issues.

I don't think people have a concept of billions of dollars.

It would take almost 32 years for a billion seconds to tick off.
"Banning books in spite of the 1st amendment, but refusing to regulate guns in spite of "well regulated militia' being in the 2nd amendment makes no sense. Can't think of anyone ever shot by a book

It takes a lot of people to make a billionaire. So who’s going to be the first trillionaire?
