To tie this and the sewing machine thread together, Singer had its own station in Glasgow.

Today singer station still exists open for public use. But on a slightly different alignment.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

The track is G scale. The War Bonnet and all that follow her are standard guage. The blue Santa Fe engine is also standard, but her posse is narrow guage. Standard guage cars scale out to about 22:1. Narrow guage is somewhere around 32:1. We don't mind mixing and matching. If it rolls, it rolls on the KKG&I. We are not "Rivet Counters"!

Come on guys. Is this really all we've got. I was hopin' to see at least another page or 2.

I'll try to re-energize this thread with an engineer's eye view of the KKG&I.

A Brief History of Railroads Maine Railroad technology was first developed in Great Britain, and included Richard Trevithick’s steam locomotive of 1804 and George Stevenson’s locomotive “Rocket” of 1829. In addition to the standard gauge (width) lines reviewed here, narrow gauge railroads also had a special role to play in the state. The first railroad…

I just picked up Dad's Railways of the World books - 2 volume set - I will grab a couple of pics from it later on. It's quite old.

Asking your wife if she would mind if you tore out and removed the top half of a big kitchen cabinet, and then cut a couple of holes in the wall so that the trains could go through is a good test to find out if you married properly. Lucky for me, the big cabinet was a piece of junk.

I spend lots of time observing LA Harbor from the seat of a bike. Train encounters are common. I usually don't even bother getting my camera. This modern version of a chain gang got my attention though.

This and their other trains run past the bottom of my garden, the track is around 6' from the fence. As well as carrying passengers, they offer driver days etc
