  • Stanley Cup Playoffs '23

I caught most of the bruins-panthers on Monday and some of the isles-canes game. All good stuff.

Last night I tried to watch rangers-devils, but I just could not tear my eyes away from the train wreck in Toronto. O M F G that was just an epic no-show by the leafs.
I've picked tampa to take that series, but figured it'd go 7 games with at least 2 going to OT in order for tampa to steal a win on the road, and the leafs just gifted them the first one. Yikes.

They have decades of experience at playing poorly. They are experts!

This will be Toronto’s year, I’m sure of it.
Stay calm, be brave....wait for the signs. Possibly precariously prevaricating.

Watching the Isles, as I have been since forever. They are grinding it out against the much faster Canes.

That said, Boston will likely take it all.

Like they say: there is nothing like playoff hockey!

Long time Habs fan here Kevin, so this year I’m left with hoping for a lottery win in the upcoming draft. Playoff hockey is indeed special. Goaltenders are the source of many upsets in the first round. Will be fun to watch! / Jim

Can we get a little respect for the Seattle Kraken?

                    I'd love to see a seattle-edmonton WCF!

Right now my cries for underdog-respect go for Panthers goalie Alex Lyon.
Though it seems like a lifetime ago that I watched him play for Yale, I recognized him by his stance on Monday before the broadcasters even mentioned his name. Undrafted AHL call-up making league minimum (until next year) carried the team to the playoffs when $10M/yr Bobrovsky was out sick and has kept the job despite Bobrovsky's recovery.

Bruins embarrassed themselves last night. The fans weren't served up anything like what a ticket cost.
For the most part experience is making the same mistakes over and over again, only with greater confidence.

I like the Canadiens! I even root for them at times. So much history and tradition with that club!

And, speaking of Le Club de Hockey Canadien -
Last night at the Isles Canes game-

Knotted 1-1 late in the third period with the game looking destined to head to overtime, the Islanders scored four quick-strike goals in a span of just 2:18, besting the previous mark of 2:35 held by the 1943-44 Montreal Canadiens.

Well my prediction is blown in the first round.
This has been one of the better first rounds in years. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Avs and Bruins seemed to have forgotten about the second rulebook... the one that the officials use in the playoffs. Their top guys were continually mugged by the opposing defense, while their D played finesse games.

I'm happy for the leafs broken-curse etc but still not sold on them altogether.

                              go Rangers.
