I've found that in many cases, I can buy from Amazon or some other retailer cheaper than directly from the producer's website. In many other cases the prices are exactly the same.

Often the manufacturer has to charge higher prices than their retailers for the simple reason that if they charged less and were cannibalizing their retailers, they'd pretty quickly have no retailers.
[and if you shop around, you might notice that Bezos' prices aren't actually all that great. All that shipping and logistics to get it to you in a day or two doesn't come cheap.]You would not enjoy Nietzsche, sir. He is fundamentally unsound. — P.G. Wodehouse (Carry On, Jeeves)Comment

Re: Internet Shopping
I wanted a pair of sneakers like my son just bought. Sketchers Go-Walk 5 Demitasse. Long name for cheap shoes.
I went to Amazon. My size $64.95. Seemed like a decent price, delivery would take 10 days. At the bottom it said “Sold by Zappos”
So I went to the Zappos website. Same shoes, $48. Delivery in 2 days.
At the bottom it said, “Delivery by Amazon”.
I’m thoroughly confused.
I've never paid more than half the $64 for shoes, for properly (machine) made leather shoes not sneakers.
Time to give them a polish I'm on museum guide duties today.

Re: Internet Shopping
5 or 6 years ago I bought a cider press. The mfr is in Kansas & sells direct online, but also through some other outlets. All the others selling it had the same price as the mfr - except for a British company. I bought it from them, it was shipped from Kansas to Vermont (not by way of Britain), & it was $300 less.
I'm guessing they just made less on it - but I was good with saving 20 percent."If it ain't broke, you're not trying." - Red GreenComment
