Fixed the title for you...

My neighbor (about a mile) away had a Beagle named Borscht and we could hear him sound the alarm from way on over the hill.
A good, smart dog, when his dad would go on a bender for a few days Borscht would trot over here (a mile away) knowing he could hang out, get dinner, a pat on the head and a scratch behind the ears!
Sometimes he was here for days...

So my newly adopted Beagle Daisy is unspayed and has been in heat since I got her. SURPRISE. I can tell you I've seen more of female dog parts than I've ever wanted. Her behavior on the leash is horrible, loudly reacting to everything that moves. Out walking a typical event goes, Daisy sees another dog, Daisy goes berserk, Molly gets annoyed with Daisy and loudly tells her so. Now I'm holding onto a pair of snarling, baying, boxing hounds, it only sounds like they're drawing blood. It all ends as the other dog goes by and they trot off, shoulder to shoulder, the best of friends. I can't imagine what the neighbors think. Molly the alpha dog seems a bit exasperated by it all but most of the time they get along well. I'm hoping that the worst of Daisy's reactions to other dogs will ease as her heat wears off and she gets spayed, if not I'll have a dog that needs work.

A girlfriend had 2. I remember running about the bush in the dark for hours trying to find 2 Beagles hard on a scent.

My mom had a miniature beagle, that was always getting into things: leaping up on counters, swiping food off the table, etc.

Worst bit was when it swallowed a pair of her underwear.

She had to take it to the vet for a surgical de-pantsing.

Our hound, a Catahoula Cur, just pulled a goofy stunt. I woke up to a horrendous crash, as if my wife had tumbled down the stairs.

I leapt out of bed and noticed the plastic dog food bin on its side in the middle of the floor.



Copper was perched on his bed with a guilty expression and the black plastic top thingie around his neck. My wife left it open and he'd been trying to steal a mounthful. His head got stuck and he flung it across the room.

So my new Beagle is super reactive to other dogs we see on our walks, loudly baying and charging at the leash. She gets so worked up she won't even stop for a treat, walks are no longer fun so she has to be trained. Professional trainers are expensive so before I go that route have any of the dog lovers here got any suggestions?

I never did much leash training my hounds, mostly just loading and unloading them. I think Pless is who you need to talk to.
