Great thread! Made me sneeze when I read the title.

I went into a sneezing fit once I opened and started reading.

I love cats but they send my allergies into a fit!

Now, cats are best observed by a distance! Hello Kitty!

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Zina was a marina cat in Savannah when my son was living aboard his sailboat. She came walking down the dock when he was making a tuna sandwich in the cockpit. He gave her some tuna and she never left. She came with when he moved back to Maine and somehow ended up with us.

She’s curled up right now at the foot of the bed.

We said goodbye to Moon, our 19 year old cat, last fall.

He liked to perch on my skiff.

Perhaps not when he was 19, but it looks like he maintained an interest in his hobby…

Here is our Rudy. He could be Moon's twin. He gets yard time from sunup to 1 or so. Then it's inside and he has an outdoor wired cat patio available to sit in. All cats should have a "Catio". Rudy is out there all hours watching and listening. Rudy.jpg

The kittens I adopted last spring for my home are getting big. That's Spike in the foreground, Mimsy relaxing on my sail bag.

Here's Lorenzo the Bean (the one in front), named after one of Ursula K. LeGuin's cats. He's got some kind of obscure neurological problem where his back legs don't work quite right and he totters a bit, but he manages OK. We're actually down to one cat for the first time in a very long while.

He's a very sweet boy, though wilful, and quite clever. He understands the doorknob principle, for example, but can't get a grip on them because of the tufts of fur on his paws. He did figure out how to turn on the water in the bathtub, so we had to come up with a way of preventing the handles from turning. He also loves to play fetch with plastic springs or paper straws, and is quite insistent when it's time to play.

He's a rescue, and apparently made quite an impression on his foster mom when he was a kitten, too.
