                Great photo!
                It always seemed a little contradictory to me to have a camouflage paint job and distinctive insignia.

                  A bit of cold war nostalgia. Not sure of the year exactly, but that's an F6 Lightning, so after mid 1965, and it's a 23 Sqdn aircraft, so pre-75 when they converted to F-4 Phantoms.

                    ^^^ Friend of mine used to fly those interceptions in the early 70s. Every one was 'for real' and if they got lucky, they were directed to a drone and shot it down.
