Wife and I will probably go for a nice walk this afternoon.
Just the two of us for dinner.
No turkey for the first time in our 42-year marriage. We both love Shepherd's Pie, so we are making it with ground turkey to keep with the season.
Going to visit our son next week-end.

making room for next boat build?

Returned home 20 minutes ago from a 3.5 mile walk with Buddy. Just will be relaxing at home today and watch last nights Cavaliers vs. Trailblazers bb game and then football. My brother will soon begin smoking an 8 lb. turkey breast. We’ll also have homemade mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, cranberry sauce and cranberry nut bread along with corn and peas.

Sounds like the way to do it, Rich.

We're hosting - kids, grandkids; turkey and all the traditional sides. Pies; might even have a slice, myself. Sit, drink coffee, catch up.

Our built-in fridge is giving up the ghost. As it turns out - that size (48") is near impossible to get right now - order it, get it next year. So likely putting a small fridge to keep the space and the peace, transitional. Good times. Should make the TG logistics more interesting.
There's a lot of things they didn't tell me when I signed on with this outfit....

My kids are with my ex today. Im heading to my sisters, about an hour away. My mom, my brother and my sisters family and in-laws will be in attendance. Probably 15 or 16 in all.

          There’s turkey and seafood.

Raw oysters have become a tradition at my folk's, but I can't get there this year.

I've been jonesing for some oysters on the half shell and I only now realized why?

Re: What Are You Doing for T-Day?

Going to my niece's house for the family get together for the first time since 2019. One daughter with us. The other in Portland for Thanksgiving with her boyfriend. I bake sourdough rolls yesterday and will make the traditional batch of my grandmother's soft rolls this AM. My brother brings the desert.

When I was a boy there were three generations older than me. My great grand aunts were alive, born in the 1870s. Now we're the oldest generation with two new generations below us. Only two grandkids and likely not a lot more on the horizon. The kids don't seem to reproduce at the same rate my generation did.

Great to be back with family

Re: What Are You Doing for T-Day?

We had it yesterday with our middle daughter, her husband and their two children. (He works today.) We each named things we were thankful for. My wife's first mention was for our boat and summer cruises. That comment was good enough for me to last the whole year.

I smoked the turkeys yesterday. Kids are running around getting chairs. Kids and family friend made two pies. Babies are asleep, hopefully. Soninlaw’s shop getting cleaned up for meal. He’s got a bunch of squared off oak timbers for house addition. Two families coming over. It’s a perfect temp, 62F.

Maybe we’ll get a swarm of grackles , it’s weather like this they appeared last time.

Went to houston last weekend. So I got a pass to spend several days at the place. Making space and knocking out projects.

                          Surprises.

                          1. Last I heard, we were getting a fresh turkey. Turned out they'd run out, so the shopping crew got frozen, and I didn't get the memo, so I didn't get it thawed. Time to get creative.

                          2. No one felt like baking pies, so they bought a pie. I assumed it was pumpkin. Which is ok by me, but not any great joy. I just discovered that it's pecan... which I LOVE!!!
