I thought the thread needed a bit of humor. OK - now you can go annoy David again.

No I'm gonna pour myself another glass of Napa chardonnay and prepare my mise en place for dinner tonight. I've spend the last 2 weekend traveling thousands of miles and we are about to travel to Europe for a month in three months. So please forgive me as much as I would love a road trip to Portland, lets save it for another time, fair enough

But feel free to plug in one of my boating/fishing trips. Towing a 1500# boat/trailer.

Start Portland, OR. Then Wallowa Lake, OR. Then Sandpoint, ID. On to Eureka, MT. Next stop - Flathead Lake, MT. Then Bend, OR. Finally, back to Portland. How does that work out?
The Tesla trip planner only gets you from Portland to Flathead Lake (hard limit on the number of stops allowed).

Assuming a Tesla Model 3 Long Range, the route involves considerable backtracking and getting to Flathead Lake via the scenic route.

The sane driver would take OR 3 north to Lewiston from Wallowa Lake, pick up US 95 in Lewiston, and take that into Couer d'Alene. . . but wait. Can't do that: no chargers. Unclear on why you wouldn't just charge up in Missoula and just cut north on US 93 to Flathead Lake instead of looping several hundred miles around through Lethbridge AB and Fort McLeoud AB, unless you really wanted to see Buffalo Jump.

Last week was a good week for TSLA. But that is a short term result. Looking back at 2020 and 2021, I can see a lot of underwater investors. Longer term numbers are better. I will stick with modest investments that produce the returns I want.

Came home from vacation and the big news is kid 1 bought an EV. Now they both have have one. But they have different needs and different economics than I.

Thanks. I've seen Buffalo Jump. I have no great urge to see it again...

About what I expected. Even before you factor in the 'towing' thing. No wonder Joe didn't want to post the results.

Just not ready to be an option for me yet.

sokay, We’re probably a decade away from earnest depowering at which point driving heavy toys around with ones own personal vehicle becomes a less common option for most folks.

Serious question what % of the driving public requires a towing vehicle to drive to Buffalo Jump ? I mean is that really the requirement for EV’s to truly become mainstream ?

                                Agree.

The percentage of people who tow or who drive such distances regularly is very small.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.
