Re: Ukraine
There must be some amazing spherical objects attached to those disaffected Russians in Belgorod, full marks to them. I can see what Ukraine gets out of this, obviously the Russian military has to spend more resources guarding their borders thus diluting their defence elsewhere, and it's a public relations disaster for Putin and his army. The commanders of the incursion presumably have political ambitions, but what do the grunts hope to get out of it? They can't seriously think that they'll ever see an independent Belgorod? How were they convinced to cross the border into Russia?Dwedais "Gwirion", nid "Twp"Comment

And as to that vid of a younger Zelensky I posted above, the sender declines to provide any information about when, where and how it was made.
No provenance in other words.
So I have to conclude that it is some sort of fake.
I apologise for posting it - please ignore it.Comment

"Pardoned Wagner Group convicts continue to commit crimes in Russia after finishing their military contracts with Wagner."
Whatever the ethics of releasing criminals to fight for the cancellation of their sentences, I doubt that if they survive long enough to be discharged, there are many legal opportunities for employment available, other than rejoining the private army.Comment

Re: Ukraine
Interesting news coming out of Ukraine, or rather Russia. The Russian region Belgorod has been invaded by Russians, and so far the invasion is successful. The problem for Kreml is that the invading Russians are "free Russians" who have been fighting on the Ukrainian side in the war. The invading Russians communicate that they have come home to liberate Russia.
This is American armour being used by Russian-on -Russian, and some people will see this as aiding terrorism. What has been the news response in the US?Comment

Re: Ukraine
The question no one is asking. How does a Russian Nationalist group get to be in possession of M1224 MaxxPro armoured vehicles and Humvees?

Most likely Zelensky being non-commital, but, did not his government sighn a deal with the US that equipment was for defence of Ukraine, and not to be used "in Russia". ?
Hence the question, what news from the US? Seems Ukraine is putting the US in an awkward position.Comment

Re: Ukraine
France 24 confirming the BBC viewpoint, along with an interview with Ilya Ponmarev of the Freedom of Russia Legion, who states Kyiv had knowledge before the action was taken.
Given that Congress was divided on supplying F16 as they could be used "in Russia", apart from propaganda purposes, I see this as a potential mistake. If Ukraine had seized so much Russian transport abandoned by retreating Russians, then why the use of US armour, at the risk and the actual event of making America make statements that reflect badly on them?Comment
