Just a few million. A much larger number prefer their version of might makes right as does the other side but a decisive number of Republicans are ok with what Trumpism means compared to what the Democratic platform offers and that is really really bad.Comment

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
It is, but, when you have such absolute whoppers of lies being purported by certain media outlets, they make it easy to separate the wheat from the chaff. Let's start with Q conspiracy theories and the Big Lie, shall we? Then we can move on to the more easily disproved carp.Comment

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
That's true, but once you start doing something like this you ultimately get down to where the rubber meets the road. And then you have to separate truth from fiction where there are nuances to things or where there are conflicting facts and and you have to decide which facts are the ones that count. The media are not terribly neutral either and I don't think they would take it well to have their "truths' edited. it is more than just a tweet from a pacifistic president that you have to consider. I don't know as I would want to get to a point where we are editing people's words. If someone says something that incites a riot, slanders a person or causes undue harm, there are already laws to deal with that.Comment

Paul Ryan to headline fundraiser for anti-Trump Republican Adam Kinzinger
Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R) will headline a fundraiser for Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Monday, Politico reports.
The big picture: "It’s a decisive move against ex-President Donald Trump, who has set his sights on Republicans who voted to impeach him," Politico writes.
- Kinzinger was one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection, and has been one of the GOP's most prominent critics of the ex-president.
- Ryan in November called on Trump to accept the presidential election results and "embrace the transfer of power." The former speaker also told Republicans in 2016 that they "should feel free to abandon Trump."

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
Georgia's lieutenant governor, one of the most prominent Republicans to openly contradict false claims about fraud in the November presidential election, confirmed Monday as expected that he won't seek reelection in 2022.
Republican Geoff Duncan was among the most high-profile Republicans to openly oppose Trump’s claims, angering many in his own party.
In Georgia, many other Republican officials have doubled down on unproven claims that Trump was cheated out of Georgia's 16 electoral votes in November. Duncan said Monday that he will focus on building an advocacy organization called GOP 2.0 that “will focus on healing and rebuilding a Republican Party that is damaged but not destroyed.”
“GOP 2.0 will work hard every day reminding Americans the value of conservative policies through genuine empathy and a respectful tone,” Duncan said.
Duncan is also writing a book called “GOP 2.0: How the 2020 Election Can Lead to a Better Way Forward for America’s Conservative Party,” set for publication in September by Simon & Schuster.

FWIW --
Scarborough Says US Has Three Parties: Republicans, Democrats and Insurrectionists
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough weighed in on the increasing division in the Republican party Monday, saying it's led to what is essentially a three-party split in American politics.
© TheWrap Joe Scarborough"You bring up a great point," he told "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski during a discussion of Rep. Liz Cheney's Axios interview from the weekend. "We have three parties in America now: We have the Republican party, we have the Democratic party and we have the Insurrectionist party. I think it's really important for people in the media to recognize that and to listen to what Liz Cheney is saying."
He noted that observers would be wise not to dismiss Cheney's Republican ideals — like her support for voter identification laws — as being "just as bad" as other Republicans' insistence on upholding former president Donald Trump's lies that the 2020 election was somehow stolen.
Brzezinski previously noted, "The Republicans are turning the party into something it's not. It is the Insurrectionist party, then there are real Republicans — and the question is how many will coalesce in that group — and the Democrats. And we need a real Republican party. What we don't need in this country is an Insurrectionist party and there is no conversation to be had with an insurrectionist, with a party that doesn't even want to believe in basic truths."
Cheney, a longtime GOP stalwart and daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, was removed this month as chair of the House Republican Conference for taking a public stand against Trump and his lies about a "stolen" election.
Her weekend interview with Axios revealed that she still maintains the rest of her conservative beliefs, even if she's not lining up behind the ousted single-term president who has become the party's standard-bearer. That revelation surprised "resistance"-type Democrats who had begun holding her up in response to her refusal to kowtow to the Trump wing of the party, or the group known to "Morning Joe" as the "Insurrectionist party."

GOP Rep. Slams Marjorie Taylor Greene's 'Beyond Reprehensible' Holocaust Remarks
Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI) on Sunday took aim at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in response to her incendiary remarks comparing the House’s mask policy to the Holocaust.
© Provided by Talking Points MemoDuring an interview on Real America’s Voice on Friday, Greene complained about the House’s mandatory mask mandate on the floor and equated the policy to the mistreatment of Jews during the Holocaust.
“You know, we can look back at a time in history when people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany,” Greene said. “And this is exactly the type of abuse that (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi is talking about.”
Greene, who has come under fire for her remarks, also accused Pelosi of being “mentally ill” for keeping the House’s mask requirement in place during the interview.
Appearing on CNN on Sunday, Meijer added to the growing outcry against Greene’s comments, calling his colleague’s remarks “beyond reprehensible.”

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
This is all interesting, but the challenge is to get those Republicans to vote for democrats, even if they have to hold their noses.
As long as all republicans vote for republicans, this trend will continue."Banning books in spite of the 1st amendment, but refusing to regulate guns in spite of "well regulated militia' being in the 2nd amendment makes no sense. Can't think of anyone ever shot by a book

GOP officials seek probe of Proud Boys ties to censure vote
The Clark County Republican Party, representing Las Vegas and the most populated part of the state, along with Republicans in the state Senate, called for a review of the vote after a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal alleged the Nevada Republican Party added about 40 people, including activists with extremist ties, to its membership the day of the censure vote to ensure the measure passed.
“News reports that state party leaders may have formed a relationship with members of the organization known as the Proud Boys to sway the censure vote of a public official is profoundly concerning,” Senate Republicans said in their statement. “If there is a determination that any member or employee of the Nevada Republican Party conspired with these individuals or had knowledge of any wrongdoing in the party vote, Senate Republicans call for their immediate removal and resignation.”
