Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
True enough. But you didn't answer the question."For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations,
for nature cannot be fooled."

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
Hugh, if we give you the traveling trophy for hating Trump / MAGA / Republicans the most of anybody, would that help?
There are not 74 million people in the U.S. who would pick Trumpian fascism as their first choice among many. They picked Trump over Biden based on who they really were and upon what was projected on them.
Trumpian fascism should be completely rejected at every turn. The way to make it go away is not to demonize anyone who ever voted for him. (Yes, Hugh, we can count on you to do so.)Comment

So what would you suggest doing about it?"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations,

No ideas about what to do?"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations,

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
I think a great deal of this is fueled by racism, xenophobia and frankly deliberately false narrative from "news" outlets. I think it should be illegal to knowingly broadcast demonstrably false information via airwaves, cable, telephone, print media, social media, etc.
Controlling incendiary propaganda is probably a great place to start."The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails."

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
I don't find it pertinent. Many of them are ignorant to the point they might not be able to spell "fascism", but their beliefs are fascist.
Imagine a guy in 1920's Berlin says, hey Ma, we're going out to fight the socialists in the streets. He has no coherent or informed conception of fascism. His brother does. Ma just wishes someone would bring peace to the streets, by force if necessary. She believes human rights are just talk anyway, so she's happy to see them disregarded.
All three are fascists. Whether they are "raving" fascists is impertinent -- fascism comes to Germany.Do not speak of "our institutions" unless you make them yours by acting on their behalf.

That was a serious question about what you think should be done, BTW."For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations,

Well, the first person on the left goes on my ignore list. This sort of crap isn't worth the time or electrons."For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations,

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
Yep - I have him on informal ignore. I think we all believe we have serious problems in the US, but his negativity & nastiness is unnecessary. As I've said before, it's too bad, as we probably agree 90% on things political."If it ain't broke, you're not trying." - Red GreenComment

Re: More Republican Party Fracturing
It is, but, when you have such absolute whoppers of lies being purported by certain media outlets, they make it easy to separate the wheat from the chaff. Let's start with Q conspiracy theories and the Big Lie, shall we? Then we can move on to the more easily disproved carp."The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails."
