    Re: Waves for Surfing

Thought I'd resurrect this thread for my tenure as BROM starting with a pic of my son Josh on a wave somewhere in the Bocos Del Toro province in Panama. I think it's on Colon Island. Its one of the better waves and on surfers travel to from the world over!

Is there really a place called Colon Is? I know of plenty of places unofficially named something similar but ....

Look closely and you will see it has it's own Starfish Beach..... must be a clean beach!!!

One of my local beaches, last Sunday. Big south swell from the hurricane off of Mexico. Waves were 6-8’ +. I ride a longboard these days when I’m not bodysurfing. Surf seems to be bigger and more consistent these days, no doubt due to global warming.

Love all the photos and stories of far-away surf spots- I would love to some day visit New Zealand and Australia, they certainly look like surfing paradise.
I recently visited Ireland, and was able to surf and give some lessons to family in the small town of Lahinch (County Clare). Super fun!

My son Josh is back at it After a serious injury from surfing a few years ago. Lung ribs and back damage, he is ok now and back to peak performance

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

I used to live at Bronte when i first got here.
It was hilarious looking at the little kids on that barrier rope when the big waves came in. You'd have eight or ten of them hold on, and when the wave cleared there'd be three of four left and a mad paddle in the pool as the rest swam back to take their places before the next wave.

Son #1 has taken to surfing with gusto. Man i wish i could pop up onto a board that fluidly (pop up onto a board at all!).
It was down hill mountain biking till recently.
It's all fun and games until Darth Vader comes.

Down hill mountain biking can be a hard landing! One of my younger boys could weave magic on a dirt bike but I was fearful of the day that would or might come when his judgment, the bike or the track let him down.
