Great detective work Jake, did you know of the Traub previously? A chicago bike of a one off builder.
Aurora Automatic Machinery Company was making engines, Hendy bought many Excelsior/Schwinn did too. Having custom aluminum cast side plates was as easy as making a pattern.

Re: some motorbikes. . .
I had a Maserati road bike. Champagne gold paint. 74 degree head and seat tube. Columbus tubimg. Not quite a criterium bike because of its length but stiff fork for a road bike. Swapped out the fork from a 531 British bike and rode it around Calif.Comment

Re: some motorbikes. . .
Now for something different. A bit of late dry season enduro from Northern Thailand on the weekend. These guys are the core of the dirty riders section of the Ulysses Club Thailand.... one of them being my right hand man, seen wearing a grey helmet with orange flash, grey backpack and blue ride shirt with the red logo on front. If you aren't up for the full video, skip to the 13 minute mark - it's the section known as the half-pipe. There's two Americans, two Thai and a Kiwi here. One KTM, two 300 CRFs (one being mine), one 250 CRF and the final one - the blue bike looks like an XR250. If it looks steep in the video, its really steep

Guy I know just finished a build last week and for fun entered a sort of local MC show. Won for oldest as the engine was manufactured in 1949.
