I voted by post over a week ago. I also talked to my cat, but it's a one-way conversation. He talks back, but I don't understand a blind word he says.

I'm currently building a potter's kick-wheel for my wife. I finished the wooden frame this morning, then spent some time online looking at bearings and steel for the shaft.

Other than that, I was awakened at 5:30 at anchor by the squawking Motorola bird. Our buddy boaters gave us Walkie talkies knowing that we hate these kinds of gadgets. And sure enough, the damn things wake us up with some clowns’ “Breaker breaker” crap. I go boating to get away from this crap.

Rolled up and stored the shrink-wrap boat cover for next year. Organized the garage. Put up two poles for hummingbird feeders. Have to go see the tax accountant before I get to go to the yard and check that they’ve launched the boat. Now I get to pause for mid morning tea.

Took the dogs out, fed them, cleaned evidence of dog from yard. Then took a 13 mile bike ride when I came upon this guy relaxing in the road.

Got home, scheduled a recall item repair on my wife’s car. Now its time to grab a oat milk vanilla latte at the local coffee house.

Went hiking up Mt. Sentinel to the fire road. Pup found a turkey and two blue grouse. She then rolled in some shi*, for yuks. Just finished giving her bath in the tub. She is now licking the Dr. Bronners residue off her feet. It is 7:40 am.

Sounds like your training is going well. Are you bird dog training, or going native? What is her natural reaction to the birds?

I woke up, got breakfast, filled up at the gas station, and drove to work. All the while I'm thinking of the next steps for several different boat projects and such that I would rather be doing than working.

Hooked the lawn mower to its battery charger so I can mow the lawn for the first time this year.
Sent off a drawing to a customer of a 4-head sanding machine showing the location of lifting lugs and fork pockets.
Figured the surface area of the internal baffles of a new wet dust collector design, so we can estimate the fancy paint needed to make it in mild steel instead of stainless.
Finished up the last little details of the design for a fan test fixture.

Scanned 46 40x4mm T24 boiler tubes using shear wave phased array with second set of transverse single beam transducers that look for transverse cracking. Performed witnessed hardness tests, dealt with various incompetent German foremen, encouraged 15 Portuguese welders, and had to give a few some bad news. Made two sublime ham and cheese toasties in between fielding the ongoing political blame storm I appear to be in.
