    Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

RDR is one of those game that I've always thought I should try, but just never get there. I'm pretty much an adherent of Bethesda Studios these days. Oblivion and Skyrim are always on the top of the pile, or more accurately, front of the drawer. The Fallout games though, they never even make it into the drawer, those three live right next to the console.

Of course I have all of those titles installed on my laptop too, which allows me to create my own content with the developer tools. Which is, imo, one of the greatest aspects of the Bethesda games, they offer perpetual game play. There is always something new to discover.

Even though I don't do MMOs, I'm looking forward to the up coming release of Fallout 76. Multi player is a riot at times, but I've never really taken to the whole massive multi player online format, too many aholes that just want to **** with other players. The current word though is that it will be workable as a single player experience.

As much as I love Bethesda games, I have never gotten into Fallout. I've tried several times but it just doesn't grab me the way TES does.

What are you doing about it?

I think what tilts it in favor of Fallout for me is the art design. I love the concept that industrial design sort of gets stuck in that 1950s style.

The game play in either franchise can't be beat as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting. I think that's one of the things I find jarring.

True of TES, and from what I hear, Fallout as well. I keep waiting for an adventure RPG to top Skyrim, and I haven't found it yet. I have high hopes for TES VI, though, if and when it ever arrives. At least they've confirmed that they're working on it. (And intriguingly, reports indicate they may be working on a new future/SF RPG, too.)

            I like Minecraft.

            It’s like Legos... with logistics.

My house is a drained lake with a glass dome ceiling.

Last night we played Skate 3. We found cool spots and took “photos” of our best tricks. Good times.

My current farm is being built over a swamp. (Easy irrigation)

There’s also a 300x300 mine in my map. Trying to figure out what to do with all that rail. I’d like to build something underwater (transport and dwellings). The new underwater features make it a more appealing area to hang out.

It’s fun. Depending on the mode you choose, it’s either free and unlimited building, or you are forced to find and develop you materials. I find the latter to be more satisfying.

Sadly, my own attention issues enable me to abandon a world before I’ve completed my vision for it. The new “unlimited” worlds may change that as I can establish new areas for new ideas without firing up a brand new world.

It’s also an easy game to walk away from for a few months and then pick up right where you left off when you come back.

Simulators. I've been a big fan of the SimCity franchise from day one, I've played them all. RollerCoaster Tycoon is another favorite sim of mine. If you design your roller coasters just right, your park's customers will barf every time!

                      Sid Meier's Civilization. A Classic.

Have you tried Civ VI? I loved IV and liked V OK, but haven't tried VI.

As far as simulators go, I really need to get Goat Simulator, as it appears to be one of the silliest things since Monty Python.

The last video game I played was the "GOLF" that came with our first computer. The most fun was hitting the ball to try to get out of bounds far enough that the graphics died. I think it kept me entertained for about ten minutes.
