Feigning death to get people to leave reminded me of a story told by a friend of my parents. New people moved in next door (rural next door) & Wllem & his wife invited them over for dinner to welcome to the neighborhood. Had a nice time, but the people showed up again (uninvited) the next night. They fed them, but the people showed up again the following night. They hinted that this wasn't supposed to be a nightly invite, but the people showed up again. After that 4th supper, Willem put the dishes down on the floor & the dogs licked them clean. He then picked them up off the floor & put them straight into the cupboard.
The people stopped coming over. And - yes, after they left he pulled them out & washed 'em
