Modern daysailer videos
I love watching sailing videos. I like Dylan's stuff very much. I also like to look at new product too and dream about the what -ifs and maybe i should do that these moving photos provide.

Re: Modern daysailer videos
All are beautiful boats and very appealing, but I also noticed none of the videos show them being sailed in anything but calm protected waters and very light breezes.
They'd be great for Lake Lanier, but not so much for Port Royal Sound.Fight Entropy, build a wooden boat!Comment

I especially like the Morris 29. I agree - a boat that size should have a tiller."Where you live in the world should not determine whether you live in the world." - Bono

I'm sorry, but they all look too vanilla to me. (Except the foiling cat. That looks like fun!)Comment

Re: Modern daysailer videos
isn't that the point with modern one design day sailers. Toys capable of keeping an overnight guest, space for three bottles of wine plus glasses, a galley for coffee sunday morning, reliable enough be back to the home dock by 3pm Sunday. They fit a market like that of a Tesla S or be used like a iPhone 5s. They aren't made to travel the world or to inspire a new sailing lust to their established consumers. These boats most likely will sail 5 times a year if they are here in the states and even less in three years after the owner/ or his wife gets bored of this hobby.
I like following trends and see what folks make for their regular customers. Considering the new boats posted start at $160,000 and looking at the used boat market glut - it is good for us who love and own boats think about who will take on our boats (plastic or wood) when we want to pass them on. This means making them able to conform to those ideals or maybe not.Last edited by Ted Hoppe; 10-01-2015, 05:15 PM.Without friends none of this is possible.Comment

Re: Modern daysailer videos
We are admiring boats that cost $150k to $200k.
Like Mr. Ostrye told us kids when we were growing up, "Boys, it's just as easy to fall in love with a rich girl!" They are pretty, but they aren't cheap."Where you live in the world should not determine whether you live in the world." - Bono

Re: Modern daysailer videos
I kinda like this new Chinese 28' sports boat. It seems almost affordable but a plastic world away from where i am (i don't ever intend holding debit on a new boat). But if you consider the price point of under 50k and is trailerable - i could imagine campaigning her with some buddies up and down the west coast.
