Maybe they think we won't notice when the Nats and the RW do another double shuffle and we get 'the real Tony' back?

This pool of unsettled refugees and displaced persons has the capacity to 'unsettle' the rest of us complacent ones. And we are encouraging their radicalisation and further displacement. I don't say I have an answer, but what we are doing now isn't going to cut it.

By this measure, the truest indicator a nation’s performance during the year, Australia was ranked 25th overall, 32nd per capita and 47th relative to total national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Australia’s record isn’t much better over the last 10 years. In the 10 years to 31 December 2015, the 139,398 refugees recognised or resettled by Australia accounted for 0.99% of the global total of 14,129,593 – with Australia ranked 26rd overall, 31st per capita and 46th relative to national GDP.

The vast majority of refugees are residing in poorer countries. Developing countries are doing the heaviest lifting, with 86 per cent of refugees residing in in low- and middle-income countries and remaining close to situations of conflict.

An increased focus on border controls in Europe, America and Australia are ensuring that those seeking safety remain stuck in developing countries, often without legal rights to work, attend school or receive essential services such as healthcare.

Oh, do try to stick to the issue being discussed. I said refugee resettlement... not refugee recognition or resettlement.

Too hard for you to understand, or was it deliberate misrepresentation of the issue I raised? Perhaps you should stick to things you understand something about?

Even your source shows Australia being the third most generous country for resettlement positions (after the US and Canada).

Turnbull's new willingness to consider repealing that section is another cave-in to Abbott's storm-troopers, suggesting that the numbers must be getting interesting and that we might get the real Tony back sooner than most think.

Again you demonstrate your lack of knowledge of the politics of the party.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has backed down from his total opposition to renewed examination of Australia's race hate laws, conceding possible changes are a legitimate area of discussion for the Coalition.
Previously ruling out any change to controversial provisions in section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, Mr Turnbull said on Friday the government would consider a proposal put forward by West Australian Liberal senator Dean Smith for a parliamentary inquiry.

Right-wing Coalition MPs and some high profile Australians are pushing Mr Turnbull to revive Abbott government plans to repeal provisions making it an offence to insult or offend people on the basis of their race.
Mr Turnbull told Melbourne radio station 3AW the government had "no plans to amend section 18C" of the Act, but called for an open discussion.

Read that as an enquiry, opening the door.
I would hope that Labour is opposed, but after the last answer by Plibersek on last weeks Q&A I am not at all confident.

... and again, we have a demonstration of zero understanding of the situation.
Tell me, Peter... what is your understanding of the case in Queensland at present? You do know about the 18C case in Queensland, don't you? The three students.

I note that Andrew Robb has taken a job with the Chinese company that holds the Port of Darwin lease. If I called that a post-dated bribe it would be libel, so I won't.
But it gives them a nice clear line into the levers of the government eh? Especially seeing that OS bribes to political parties seem to be OK with both majors.
