So many boomless standing lugs, you do not see those here. They do not appear to be performing poorly without the boom.

Not really a traditional rig in the (former) colonies, is it? But I like it a lot. It's still kind of a toss-up for me whether I like it better than a balance lug, but I lean toward "yes" on that question. I agree that there doesn't seem to be much of a performance penalty except for downwind sailing. Even then, not much.

And I like it a lot more than spritsail rigs for my uses--and I've sailed a fair amount with them, too.

              ^^^ Yep, that's it exactly.

I also liked Roger's explanation of the word "ribineur." This is my favorite Roger video for a while.

This last one of Rogers is indeed one of his best. The scenery behind him as he drinks his coffee - stunning. Been out sailing any Tom? Still across... or back for the summer? RobK, Lewes Delaware

I've been known to brew up a cup now and then myself while under way, still working on a proper cup holder and place to put it.

I've been a fan of his work for a while now. His dinghy cruising adventures are truly inspiring and keep the spirit of sailing alive. I particularly enjoyed his recent video in Venice, capturing the charm of the place perfectly.

Yep, I had a week of sailing this summer up in Canada--good trip, teaching a friend to sail who had never done this kind of small boat cruising before (he's a windsurfer).

There's another one. A Raid in the Netherlands again. Very enjoyable.
