Lofty's ad a few days ago said it was under contract.
I reckon she'd be really nice. I can't have a look now, though. Vamp will get jealous.

What I really, really, enjoy, is taking a couple of the kids out for a quiet sail on a Sunday afternoon on the Swan River. They love it. Simplicity itself.

The Sharpie I just picked up recently and it's in over-all excellent nick, on a good trailer, with a full suite of sails except for the kite, which seems to have had acid spilled on it. But it doesn't have a rudder... (my wife suggested that it fits our family very well). I'm waiting for some Sharpie guys over here to come up with an old one either to use or to act as a template to make one. Then we'll be going for a not-so-quiet sail...

Matt, I hope you're right about getting my boat out on the water this year. I suspect I'm in for a longer period of frustration than that, but I like your optimism!

      Cheers,
      John.
Welcome John! Great that you're here! I also have an American wife, and a Mirror! Plus other boats .... Would be good to hear about and see the Sharpie and the project boat!

I see Lofty still hasn't sold his H28 for $12K. A tiddly bit more info in the reposted ad:
"THE HULL IS CONSTRUCTED WITH TRIPLE PLANKED KAURI PINE, GLASSED AND EPOXIES, NEVER LEAKED, NO ROT."

So how about this for a GBC contender? Or is everyone still sick of that thread...
If there's enough interest, I'd be happy to revive that thread. I was only thinking about it recently. Should we?

I'm not quite sure Jeff but I think that boat is up at Southport and doesn't quite look like that anymore ... unless the owner has done a lot of work. The photos were quite old and the interior and cabin was quite rotted .... that was repairable but the frames were very furry and disappeared under concrete.

If it's the boat I looked at I knocked it back at $3000. A Lymington sloop IIRC.

My wife's from the Bay Area, Menlo Park to be precise, where Phar Lap died. She's amazing, and has borne and raised nine wonderful children.

I must get some photos of the Sharpie and the Mirror and load them up. It never occurred to me that anybody would really be interested in them!

Too much varnish, and too far away. But I like the look of her.

I think Lofty's re listed it. Apparently the boatcwas under contract but the sale didn't go through. A bit suss but still should be worth a decco.

Welcome John! Great looking boat and project you have there. I'll have to peruse the thread in detail.

We're working toward having the 'Haul of Mirrors' somewhere, someday. Jeff's got one, as does Rick and you'll see mine's getting more glamorous and highly strung by the day!

Me too. And if this one's in as good a condition as she looks, she's probably worth eight grand. David's designs are excellent. (It would be nice to see some photos of her in the water though.)
