Re: Wooden boat insurance?
Repeat after me and watch the swinging watch.... My boat is not wood.My boat is composit...Myboat is not wood...My boat is composit.
as far as homebuilt...pick up a fifty dollar derelict the same length as yours and "absorb" his HIN .
Oh , this gets you out of the HIN runaround too.

Re: Wooden boat insurance?
We got insurance without too much pain, but it is a pain contacting brokers, and not knowing which underwriters they work with. We had multiple "sorry no" from the same underwriter... Just went through this again, as we are moving to the East coast this summer and our broker didn't have a footprint out there. It seemed easier dealing with the insurance broker from the East coast, I suppose they know a bit more about boats.Comment

Re: Wooden boat insurance?
Just had this on my little 17ft Bolger derivative. After asking a couple of UK places, but a 'no' as I don't live there. I tried Panteanious, who are German, but have an office in Monaco. (That sounded scarey...)
Came straight back with a cheap quote for 3rd party (what I need here, as obligatory) without a survey.
My little Oughtred fearing as insured by my French outfit. BUT, it kept on increasing to 5X over ten years, no claims. The newboat is bigger etc but the quote is half what they wanted for the smaller boat until I told the old company to get lost.
I must be the ideal customer. I have never claimed on any insurance policy. House, car, or boat. But, now I have mentioned it, likely tomorrow will bring doom.Comment

Re: Wooden boat insurance?
I got liability insurance on my Master License to cover damage or injury I might inflict others and bore damage to my own boat myself.Comment
