Danforth tattoo???

I was jokily wondering if people got tattoos of other types of anchors, other than the yachtsman/fisherman type..and lo and behold they do!

I knew there were several iterations of the fluke anchors but frankly don't keep up on them.
I'm imagining a scenario where someone wants an anchor tattoo and they look up anchor on the internet.
Maybe this looked more intimidating than the classic fouled anchor.

I might go for one of these modern hooks with the loopy thing on top, Manson,Mantra.. they tend to have half a bushel of stuff jammed under the loop, positionthe pudding on a bicep.

a Fortress might actually make sense on a small boat.. maybe a second anchor, if you needed such a thing
they are aluminum, very light for their holding power, and fully disassemble too

Fortress is a very good soft mud anchor. Its got an alternative 45 degree fluke setting for soft silty mud which grips better. Fold flat, don’t rust and light to handle. Good in the Solent where there’s alof of deep mud or sand. Excellent small boat muddy creek anchor, not that small boats demand much anchor performance really.

I use a Fortress on about 4 metres of chain & warp which I use when we're day-racing round the cans as the whole set up is very light. It works well enough in sand or mud.

I do have a proper sized galvanised Danforth and a decent amount of chain that I usually remember to take if we are venturing further afield.

I learnt the limitations of the race anchor set-up last year when we went to watch the Dubai Sail GP race. It took place within a walled harbour and, without any tidal currents in there, the bottom was extremely soft, silty mud. I'd forgotten to bring the main anchor and found the Fortress and the pathetic amount of chain just sort of floated on top of it all. After several failed attempts to set the anchor we gave up and ended up tying up behind a far better prepared boat...

I think a fouled Danforth with a the rode wrapped around it would make a proper tattoo
For a bit of color you could add an orange buoy bag and pennant to a trip line

I wonder what the tattoo says about its owner... does it suggest they're not very reliable in times of change or when the going gets rocky?

WHY!!

The classic getting a shipmate drunk and he waking up with a tattoo, I can 'sort' of understand, some what like 'initiation' stuff. (Though I dispise the people who do it, like hazing newbees in college.)
But anybody walking into a parlour and asking for a 'tat'.....Not to mention them with body covering works... Attention seekers?

Sorry, got a bit drifted on the subject..

Logicly, what is the difference between a classic fouled anchor and a modern version, if the person wants a tat? At least he will have to explain it in more detail to the un-iniciated.
